Altona, MB – The Hon. Candice Bergen, P.C., Member of Parliament for Portage-Lisgar will be presenting over 700 Canada 150 certificates to first responders to thank them for their service to their communities.

"Canada’s 150th birthday has been a great reason to take time to stop and celebrate our beautiful country with friends, family and loved ones, but it is also the perfect opportunity to take a moment to reflect on what and who, make our country great,” said MP Bergen. "Police officers, firefighters and paramedics play an important role in shaping our communities, keeping us safe and being there for us in our time of need.”

On Thursday, August 10th Bergen met with police officers in Winkler and Altona to express her gratitude in person, and hand out the first of the certificates.

"The brave men and women that serve as first responders in our communities help make Canada the strong and free country that we all love and call home,” said Bergen. "We are all thankful for their service, but it is important to me that we stop and take the time to recognize all that they do and say thank you. Canada wouldn’t be the same without these brave men and women.”
